5 February 2019 is Chinese New Year, as well as Constitution Day in Mexico. It is the
seventy-first birthday of Christopher Haden-Guest, 5th Baron Haden-Guest, the brilliant
satirist and actor usually referred to simply as Christopher Guest. There’s a
light dusting of snow here on the ground in Portland, and it’s cold—well, cold
for Portland anyway. Most of the rest of the country would probably regard it
as pretty mild.
The Propaganda Professor has a nice piece up (“The Golden Age Of Gaslighting”) partly about the press rehabilitation of the maga brats who
disgraced themselves and Covington High School at a march in Washington D.C.
White Privilege Poster Child Nick Sandmann comes in for his share of blame, or
rather the publicists that his family hired to turn his fifteen minutes of
shame into a golden ticket. It’s worth reading anyway.
