29 January 2019 is Kansas Day in (you guessed it) Kansas,
and it commemorates the admission of Bleeding Kansas to the Union in 1861. I
see in the news that the President and the Speaker of the House have agreed on
a date for the President to deliver his State of the Union Address—a meaningless
ceremonial event that for some reason Americans attach great importance to.
There are probably a wide variety of interesting things going on throughout the
world—I noticed that insect populations are crashing around the world for one—but
I’m not up to taking note of them, even in a cursory way. My back is killing
me, and my feet hurt, and I’m having trouble staying awake, no matter how much
sleep I get. I’m hoping tomorrow will be better.
