Apparently the actual author of this axiom is Christopher Hitchens; I am modifying the entry to reflect this. On the other hand my intention was to call attention to Jason Thibeault's excellent April Fool's Day piece; I just inadvertently picked a line to feature that appears to be a quotation familiar to most people, but not (till now) to me. It's a good axiom, however, wherever it came from.
